Voice Mode

Voice Mode lets your website visitors talk to your AI assistant instead of typing. They click the microphone button in the chat widget, speak naturally, and the AI responds with real-time, natural-sounding speech. It works on desktop and mobile browsers with no extra setup for your visitors.

What is Voice Mode

Voice Mode adds a microphone button to your chat widget. When a visitor clicks it, they can speak to the AI instead of typing their question. The AI listens, understands, and responds with natural-sounding voice — just like a phone conversation, but right in the browser.

How It Works

Visitor Clicks the Microphone

The visitor clicks the microphone button in the chat widget. The browser asks for microphone permission (first time only). Once granted, the visitor speaks their question.

Speech is Transcribed and Processed

The visitor's speech is transcribed to text and sent to the AI. The AI searches your knowledge base for relevant information and generates a response — just like a regular text conversation.

AI Responds with Voice

The AI's response is converted to natural-sounding speech and played back to the visitor. Sub-second response times keep the conversation feeling natural and fluid. The text response also appears in the chat so visitors can read along.

Note: The visitor's browser will ask for microphone permission the first time they use Voice Mode. This is a standard browser security prompt — no special configuration is needed on your end.

Enabling Voice Mode

Open Voice Settings

Go to Settings → Voice in your dashboard.

Select a Voice

Choose from the available voices. Preview each one to find the voice that best matches your brand.

Toggle Voice Mode On

Enable Voice Mode with the toggle. The microphone button will appear in your chat widget immediately.

Preview in Widget Preview

Use the widget preview in the dashboard to test Voice Mode before it goes live on your website.

Tips

  • Keep AI responses concise — 2–3 sentences sound best in voice. Shorter answers feel more natural when spoken aloud.
  • Great for accessibility — Voice Mode helps visitors who have difficulty typing or prefer spoken interaction. It also works well for mobile users on the go.
  • Works alongside text chat — Visitors can switch between typing and talking at any time. Voice Mode and text chat work together in the same conversation.
